This Giant Eagle Supermarket includes a pharmacy, which is why I stopped in. The store is laid out in an orderly fashion and it was clean and easy to locate the items I needed, but the store is also very large and requires quite a bit of walking to cross from the entrance to the pharmacy and back. This isn't convenient with small children. The pharmacist demonstrated excellent product knowledge and provided product clarification, which I appreciated very much. My pet peeve was that I attempted to use the self checkout line with just a small handful of items and was not able to complete my purchase because I didn't have a "Giant Eagle Advantage Card" and was sent to wait in very long check out lines instead. What nonsense. I can't say that I will stop in again. Not at all convenient if I can't pay and leave. It's like they want to keep you trapped in there forever so that they keep selling you more things. No thanks! We have places to be! LOL
Good prices. Convenient placement. Weird parking lot
Freedom Farms (locally made) soups are here. The wedding soup was had last night was flavorful, hearty and the taste was as homemade as homemade that you can get. In the freezer section you won't be disappointed. We stopped at this Giant Eagle specifically to pick up the Freedom Farms soup.
It's OK as a grocery store. Has a good cross section of items; an upscale grocery & food store with many prepared foods as well-all of top quality. The only complaint I Have is when they change things around so I can't find what I need easily.
Well I just recently moved to the area, and my husband works on 910 and I work in Allison park area. Not far from the giant eagle on route 8, it's also very convenient for me to get to considering it's close to our new home and our jobs. However, this morning I went there after dropping my husband off at work to purchase WIC items. Was in the store for about an hour, asked where items were from multiple employees. Obviously with my WIC checks in plain sight employees failed to mention to me that they didnt accept WIC. An hour and a half I spent at this store gathering all my WIC items, only to get to the register and be treated so innapropriately by the cashier, she rudely told me they do not accept WIC because they are a privately owned company. I asked why weren't there any signs outside or on the entrance doors that said "DO NOT ACCEPT WIC". I was embarrassed as to how the cashier had handled the situation, she then proceeded to say I'd have to go somewhere else. The excuse that they're privately owned is complete bulls**t considering when I was in college I worked at a privately owned giant eagle in Sarver, and they've always accepted WIC. So please somebody contact me and explain to me why I was treated poorly, and why your company does not accept WIC. You pay taxes to the government? I feel they should accept it. Many families use it.
